I just saw the ever amazing Type-O-Negative at Nassau Coliseum, and figured I would contribute a review and the set list for your consumption.

The event was opened by Manhole (whom I missed, due to traffic), and seconded by Life Of Agony. The sounded pretty good, yet I am not a big fan of theirs (although the floor was one big pit, so who am I to judge?).

Type-O hit the stage at around 9:10, opening the mood with pieces of "Glass Walls Of Limbo" and "Machine Screw". The stage setting was as follows:
The backdrop of the stage was the album cover for October Rust, and in numerous locations around the stage were small trees giving the "outdoor effect". Of course, the traditional smoke and green lights were present. Peter was wearing what seemed to be his usual black leather cap, and pretty much his normal black jeans and tee shirt.
The actual music began with "Prelude To Agony" (mixed with some of "Pain"). After Pete introduced themselves, he mentioned that no one was here to hear him talk so he would "shut his mouth and play". This was his intro to "Love You To Death" (which is a tad faster than I expected live, yet still delivers). Next up was "Cinammon Girl". Peter apologized "to all the fans of Mr. Neil Young, the Lord giveth and Type-O-Negative taketh away....."

Next up was the "song for all the white users, and a tune that the NAACP loves", of course being "Kill All The White users". Peter then mentioned "those who didn't recognize Cinammon Girl will never recognize Summer Breeze, but he would play it anyway". This (of course) brought "Summer Breeze/Set Me On Fire" to the stage. More stage banter included Peter explaining how "New York was pretty much a Christian town, which if his math is correct means at least 52% of that population are Christian Women", the tune of the same name followed suit...which is still played in it's entirety (Thank God, no pun intended).

"around the years 1967-68 there was a band who had a song, this is for all the girls who like to play with Fire". "Light My Fire" was up (not much of a restructure here (in usual Negative fashion), pretty much just a standard, faster version. A couple of chords of "In A Gadda Da Vida" slipped in. "Peter then asked if anyone had tried to kill themselves, he had but screwed that up. and while he doesn't condone this type of action "if you feel compelled, make sure you get on the phone, call someone up who you hate, climb ontop of your roof and jump on them take someone you hate with you" leading the band into "Are You Afraid", and "Gravity".

"Too Late: Frozen" was next and had a great snowstorm effect during the mid-section. Pretty moody with the lights and music wrapped amidst this. I missed what exactly what he said before "My Girlfriends, Girlfriend" due to some screaming drunk 16 year old behind me, but that tune came next. "and since you have been such a tolerant audience, we will only torment you with one more tune. We cannot play "black #1, but will do black #2 (this had Peter playing bass to the tune of the Munsters). Of course "Black #1" was the last number.

In closing Peter thanked the audience for supporting them over the past few years. He thanked those who supported them from L'Amour days (like me..I was there). and "Although I will not say I love you all, I will admit that I like you all very much". He walked off and that was it.

Whew, I still have a great time checking them out. I even made a fan out of someone who was originally afraid to go.
