Review of the Type O Negative show in Boston, MA

By: Jim Eden

Y'all,

Well went to the Boston show at the Avalon last night. First off, I'm glad I got there early, cause Life of Agony was a no-show or cancelled. There were all kinds of rumors runnin' around. Anyone know what really happened? Without LoA Manhole played an extended set. I saw TON back in September in Rhode Island and it took them forever to come on after LoA well I dont think 15 minutes passed between Manhole and TONs appearance. THe back drop was cool, they had the usual fall-like trees and vines and stuff, and for an added touch they had pumpkins all around the stage. It looked real neat when they did Frozen (Too late) and the snow settled on everything. Anyways the set-list from what I recall I'm scetchy on the order...

Can't remember what song they did it on but I heard the rift from "Smoke on the Water" in there somewhere. The crowd was pretty tame compared to the one in Providence, I saw a month or so earlier. There where huge signs everywhere warning about moshing, stage-diving, etc. In other words if you did any of the fore mention, out you go. And out they did. So needless to say there was no pit.

All in all the show kicked. (Like it couldn't) All htough I was bummed that LoA didnt play, show , whatever. There were alot of LoA fans there that were cheesed. TON played for about an hour and twenty minutes. Pete seemed very nervous, at the begining. He stuttered when he first came out. He did quite a job on the ole bottle of wine too.

Just my 3 cents
