so first: I didn't get to meet anyone from the band or Rich or whoever, 'cause
it was freezing cold and I didn't have the nerves to wait for them the whole day
in front of the venue - maximum respect to those guys and girls who did!!
even inside it wasn't much warmer (maybe the fault of the audience... there were
some real dicks there... throwing cig butts at Manhole and stuff... I'm ashamed
being a german fan and getting compared to those users!). and beer doesn't help.
ok.
Manhole were good - I didn't like the vids by them that I saw recently and didn't
know much more about them, but that Tarrie (sp) is one pissed of chick! so I ended
up liking them (the guitarist is also one crazy mf.!). I noticed both support bands
had own drumsets etc and used full smoke and Moonspell even had their own (futile)
slideshow... wich is not always common, so I think TON supported THEM more
or less (is everyone still following me?).
Moonspell... I mean we already have a
Paradise Lost, we already have the old Fields o.t.N. records and we all know how
ridiculous the Scorpions (Poison for the americans) act onstage!!
Moonspell are a cross of all of the above. sounds interesting? no, they aren't.
I guess you can tell by now that I think that they are a bunch of trendy wankers...
probably they sound on their next album like OR or whatever's the trend then.
I forgot (another thing wich added to my negative opinion of the crowd - this excludes me): before/between the bands they played really cool music over the p.a. - Blondie, some really groovy seventies music (Roxy Music maybe) etc. and some more dance-like songs wich they didn't understand and reacted really hostile to... get some education!
before TON came onstage they palyed some AC/CD (hell yeah!) - Big Balls, Dirty Deeds etc. and over the beginning of Hells Bells (spooky bells intro) you heard Glass Walls...! pretty neat idea. they began with IKYFSE, then Love Me To Death, Christian W. etc... you name it... all the usual comments from Peter ('...this songs about suicide, don't do it because...blah blah', '...you all know the next, maybe I'm gonna forget the words because of this cheap french wine... so sing along'). they fooled us all by playing the intro of A Death... (up to where you wanted to start singing 'not long ago, but far away') and all of a sudden bursting into 'Kill All...'!! bastards! before MGG he had a few good lines: 'there are three types of girls. the first likes to kiss only boys, the second likes only girls and there's a third, wich I like the best, who likes to kiss boys AND girls - this is MGG!' at the end (yes they gave an encore - wich I didn't expect) he also explained again that they don't feel responsible for their success, it's the fans and that they (TON) don't even deserve it. they also played a 'not so exciting' version of Light My Fire (dedicated to the ladies in Hannover) but no Summer Girl... no Wolf Moon, no Christmas Mourning but also Bacchus, Pain, Black #1, Cinnamon G.,Too late:Frozen (incl. snow-antrophic paranoia), Gravity, the 'Aqaulung break' everybody refers so gloriously to (two secs. maybe!) and that's that!
Even after the last album (BK) some users didn't get wise and some stupid skins showed up, shouting for Carnivore - stupid fucks! I have nothing against skinheads, only fascist boneheads - wich they were. I don't even have anything against Carnivore (like them) but this was a TON gig - so don't expect any old Carnivore stuff! and YES - wear your combat boots. as long as you don't kick other users's heads in, like some of them did while crowdsurfing (nothing against that, too) during Bacchus (a really fast song, eh?)... but you have to protect your feet from those nasty heels... ;)
Yes, Peter's legs seem to get thinner and thinner while his upper body gets bigger... strange. if you're lucky you'll even see something of Rowlf and his keyboards - too much fog, guys! Johnny was all smiles all the time and Kenny looked like the guy next door! well despite the things I mentioned (ticket prices were also too high - leave automatons like Moonspell at home next time and bring your buddys from Pist-on!) the gig was really fun. yes and various idiots trying to mess with my girlfriend while I was getting drinks... well, they should've known better...
that's all, if I've bored you: get a life. I have one for sale!
Peter.
also: if you want to get to the front - be prepared and not afraid to fight your way through multitudes of beautiful girls!
